니코렐리스는 2007년에는 듀크대학의 붉은 털원숭이와 태평양 너머 일본 교토의 인간형 로봇 '시비(CB)-1'을 인터넷과 컴퓨터로 연결했다.

붉은 원숭이 이도야가 미국 노스케롤라이나 더럼의 듀크대에서 손잡이를 잡고 러닝머신 위를  걷기 시작하자 일본 교토 로봇도 이도야의 의지대로 움직이기 시작했다.

이처럼 영장류의 몸뚱이와  기계를 연결해 영장류의 의지대로 움직이게 하는 혁명적인 신경생리학 패러다임이 '뇌-기계 인터페이스'(BMI: brain-machine interface)다.

이는 지금 접목하는 단계로 나아가고 있다.
